About Us

Mabati Rolling Mills Limited (MRM) is the largest company within the Safal Group, and was its founding operation, commencing in 1962 at Mariakani, near Mombasa Kenya. MRM was the first company in Africa to produce coated steel using a patented Aluminium-Zinc alloy recognised as the leading technology worldwide to deliver superior service life to steel. This technology is licensed to the Safal Group by BIEC International. 
 
MRM has an integrated Coil facility at Mariakani producing world class Coated and Painted Coated Coil products from which it manufactures a plethora of prestigious Roofing products in its facilities across Kenya. MRM has service centers located in Athi River (near Nairobi), Thika, Kisumu, Eldoret, Mombasa, Kisumu, Kisii and Nyeri. MRM also has the largest Distributor network in the Country for Coated Steel products.
 
Metal coated steel is sold as Zincal®. Colour coated Zincal is marketed under the brand names Colorplus®, Optima® and Optima Plus® in an array of popular colours that are both durable and beautiful.
 
MRM’s roofing products are the leading brands in their markets and continue to define the standards across the Construction sector. These include Dumuzas®, Resincot® and Versatile® brands, which are undisputed leaders in the market. A host of other products are also offered to the emerging projects market including the innovative Saflok700 ® Concealed Fixed System and Light Weight High Strength Steel Trusses known as Ultraspan®

Mabati Rolling Mills Limited is part of the Safal Group, which has 36 metal coating and roll forming operations across Eastern, Central and Southern Africa.

 

The Safal Group is Africa’s largest producer of steel roofing and sheeting and was the first producer of Aluminium Zinc coated steel on the continent.With over 36 businesses, and insights gathered over 50 years, the Safal Group has remained at the forefront in developing and providing products that lead the industry.The outputs of more than 30 roof manufacturing operations make it  the largest producer of metal roof sheeting in Africa.

To complement its roofing brands, specialist products have been developed by the Safal Group - such as the Fixtite fastener products, steel pipes and hollow sections, and other value added accessories for the building industry.
