To empower and transform the lives of marginalized communities in urban slums through skills development and relocation to decent and safe settlements.
Our Vision:
Improved housing, dignified lives.
WE BELIEVE
We believe a decent home is not only a right but also has the power to transform lives. When a family has a secure and stable home, they are able to improve their livelihood, pull themselves out of poverty and build robust communities.
OUR CORE VALUES
Humility & Integrity
Partnership & Inclusivity
Empowerment & Sustainability
TRAINING
Unemployment in Korogocho slum is high, with around 32% of the youths in the area having no source of income. Thanks to a grant from UN-Habitat, we were able to train 10 youths from the Mwamko families on construction-related skills.
The training included:
Theoretical class sessions;
Practical lessons consisting of a two-month attachment at leading housing projects around Nairobi, such as Housing Finance Corporation projects;
Coursework in basic electrical work, painting, masonry and plumbing;
Awarding of certificates as proof of qualification to undertake construction-related work.
The trained youth are now working in construction jobs across the city, gaining the much-needed income while sharpening their newly-gained skill.
This experience will come handy when we break ground on the homes for the Mwamko families, as they will be in a position to take part in the construction.
SECURED LAND
We have bought two (2) acres of land and secured the proper documentation and the permit to build from the Nairobi County Planning Development.
This purchase was made possible thanks to our London-based partners Commonwealth Housing Trust (CHT).
SITE LAYOUT
We have developed a home design and layout in readiness for construction.
The plan encompasses water harvesting and bio-digester systems as well as urban farming, particularly poultry keeping for subsistence and commercial use.
SEALED PARTNERSHIPS
We are honoured to have sealed a number of partnerships with likeminded and commitment partners who have contributed financially or in-kind or both.
Water supply: The Lotto Foundation has pledgedto install water tanks and a water tower on the rehousing land already purchased.
Training support: We were able to train 25 youths on construction skills through a partnership with ARC Skills and Sadolin Limited in conjunction with Alibhai Shariff Limited.
Technical support: Tens of volunteers have come on board to volunteer their time and expertize, including two graduate engineers from the Technical University of Kenya.
There are many online platforms that accept customer reviews these days, and we all know that these reviews can be faked. So when you see our green tick, you have the safety of knowing that every review on Top Property has been independently investigated by us, and verified as a genuine customer.
The way we verify any review is with evidence of the contract between that business and client, like a copy of an invoice, a signed contract, a receipt of payment, or a related internal company record.
This information is supplied to us when that review is submitted, and it’s only when we are satisfied it’s legitimate, that will we publish it. This information we use as evidence is provided to us by the company which that review is about, and or by the client who paid for those products and or services.
This directory being 100% human edited means that all the businesses listed here have been checked and verified by the KenyaCompanies.com directory team as content rich and with relevant information ensuring you get the best from your searches.
